Hello Majors Members,
The City of Mississauga Park and Rec division, are seeking to dissolve years of agreements pertaining to Capital infrastructure contributions made over decades by the Mississauga Majors.
The end result will be significantly higher users fees to use public diamonds, even the ones that the Majors played key roles in establishing and do not even exist on City property.
This will be yet another blow to grass root, not of profit organizations like the Majors who provide community programs directly to residents and will ultimately continue to erode the affordability of youth sport participation in Mississauga.
Ward 1 Councillor Steve Dasko, a long time supporter of youth sport and the Majors, tabled a motion on January 14th , 2026 directing staff to report back on a method to help alleviate user fees https://pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com/Meeting.aspx?Id=6b7bd5b4-62c6-4eb6-b260-905f1012ea03&lang=English&Agenda=PostAgenda&Item=38&Tab=attachments
A staff report is being tabled by Parks and Recreation staff tomorrow for council for consideration that does the opposite,
It is expected that the report will be heard and deputation made between 9:30am and 11:30 am
